We’ll admit it: we’re getting so excited around the Goldtouch offices for the Employer Healthcare & Benefits Congress next week, we’re wearing ergonomic-themed accessories as jewelry around the office.
Okay, maybe that’s not exactly true, but we certainly are pumped! For those of you who are unfamiliar with the conference, this is one of the biggest gatherings of healthcare and benefits professionals and companies in the US, with over 1,500 attendees each year (and growing). That might not mean a lot to you, but as true ergo- and wellness nerds, this is our time to learn about all of the coolest new gadgets and hacks the industry has to offer, so that we can bring the latest and greatest right to your doorstep — and you don’t even have to do anything!
Here’s a quick look at the panels we’re most looking forward to.
Developing a Corporate Wellness Culture ~ Everything You Need to Know in Five Words
We love the concept of corporate wellness because it puts employees first, approaches employees as whole individuals, and most of all, fosters a culture of prevention rather than treatment. But like all things, it’s not good enough to simply throw benefits and features at employees. Sure, it’s great to offer employees massage services and gym memberships, but in order to be successful, a wellness program must change the corporate culture along with the mentalities of everyone who exists inside it.
We explore the benefits of a corporate culture that embraces wellness in our post, Creating a Culture of Wellness Has Big Payoffs. We hope to add a lot more to this list after attending this panel!
Geek Sheek ~ Fitness & Nutrition Apps, Mobile & Wearable Technologies
Wearable and mobile technology is the future of tech, and we can’t wait to see how this is going to affect the world of fitness and wellness. We’re huge fans of FitBit and other like technology, and are eager to learn how employees can use such technology both within the workplace and outside of it to better suit their health needs and refresh for work so they’re ready to go.
Here is a list of some of our favorite fitness apps. We can’t wait to learn about more!
Building a World Class Health Program as Part of a Comprehensive Employee Total Rewards Benefit Package
Wellness programs aren’t a set it and forget it kind of thing. Nor are they something simply something to check off of a list. In fact, doing so is a sure way to waste money, without even really helping employees.
We’re excited to hear all about how companies can develop a business case for wellness programs. This is crucial for companies like us who are in the business of preventative care. We look at this in-depth in our article, The Top 5 Ways Ergonomics Will Benefit Your Bottom Line.
Steps to Build Engagement and Have a Healthier Workforce
Great communication on its own is a crucial part of building a healthy corporate workplace. But communication skills aren’t just important for hashing out problems and working effectively on team projects; when it comes to implementing ergonomic solutions and wellness programs, employees must have a deep understanding of what they’re being asked to do, why they’re doing it, and exactly how to do it. For that, communication is key.
We’re looking forward to attending this workshop, especially in conjunction with the health and wellness marketing panel below.
Developing a Health and Wellness Marketing Plan
Again, employees have to pay attention and be engaged with a wellness plan to really make it work. After all, they’re the ones who need to change their own behavior. As such, it’s crucial that employers intrinsically motivate their employees to participate — and for that, marketing the plan is key.
We explore this more in our blog post, 7 Traits of Successful Wellness Programs & Leaders, and we’re eager to learn more.
We can’t wait for the conference. Be on the lookout for our tweets throughout the event!
