key to productivity chair

Why Your Chair Matters

Okay, maybe the key to productivity is your mindset too, but the point is, your chair really, really has a big impact on how you feel throughout the day, and therefore how much you can get done. A chair that in anyway causes pain will be a constant distraction. Pain takes your mind away from the tasks you actually have to get done. And we’re not even going to say what an impediment pain is for innovation and creativity.

It shouldn’t surprise you, then, that an ergonomic chair can be a savvy investment not only for your body and mind but also in the future of your career. But with so many expensive manufacturers claiming to sell the world’s most ergonomic chair, what should you actually look for?

The Things to Look for in a Good Ergonomic Chair

The cushion, of course, is a great place to start. It should provide enough padding so that your tailbone won’t get sore, and should be made of a breathable fabric. Armrests are also important, as they’ll provide essential support for your joints throughout the day. They should of course be adjustable to suit your specific body and behaviors. The height of the chair should also be easily adjustable, as should be the chair’s back so that you can move it into a position that supports your lower back while also guiding you into an upright pose. Wheels are also essential, as you want to be able to move freely throughout the day without straining your knees.
