1) You’ll Feel Recharged for the Rest of the Day
It won’t come as much of a surprise that sleeping for a brief period of time will re-energize you for the rest of your day so that you can better tackle your to do list. More notable is the fact that napping can essentially reset your thinking, pulling you back from your pre-nap, nose-to-the-ground mentality so you have a little bit more room for creative thinking, whether you apply that to a new, innovative project, or in implementing a new approach for a stalled initiative. Even a 10 to 20 minute nap can do the trick, leaving you the rest of your lunch break for, well, lunch.
2) Napping is Natural
Ever notice how much your dog sleeps throughout the day? That’s actually the norm in the mammal world. Though we can’t embrace snoozing quite as wholeheartedly as Fido has, sneaking just a single nap into your day will clear your brain, and it just might help you live longer, too. Napping, after all, has been linked to lower blood pressure; in fact, even just anticipating an afternoon nap can do the trick!
3) It’s Way Better Than Caffeine
So, it’s okay to have 7 cups of coffee every day, but napping is out? This mentality makes no sense. Consuming too much caffeine comes with a host of negative health consequences, and it often is ineffective, leading either to massive crashes or the kind of jitters that ironically disrupt your concentration. Put the mug down, and close those eyes!
If you’re interested in learning more about this topic, we highly recommend reading the following Washington Post article, Why You Should Be Proud to Sleep on the Job, for more great justifications. You’ll find featured in the main image an ingenious invention, the Ostrich Pillow, which makes working at your desk far more comfortably. Naturally, we’d like to recommend pairing that with an ergonomic mouse or keyboard to complete your comfortable and productive day.
